Well, several speeches later (listening to, not delivering), I’m now a member of Phi Beta Kappa. All told there seemed to be about a hundred new inductees, of whom maybe a half were present. Given that undergraduate enrollment is about 30,000-35,000, I was expecting more. I was also surprised that I only knew one other inductee.
Anyway, I don’t feel any smarter, but it was nice to find out I can still fit into my dress pants when I have to. Besides, it’s pretty clear that PBK != Mensa. The email I got this week said two things of particular interest:
You haven’t RSVP’ed yet…
Well, that might be because this is the first indication I’ve gotten that my nomination was approved.
…to the induction ceremony on Sunday, December.
A date might be helpful here, guys.
Fortunately, the RSVP link worked, so it all turned out well.
